Carmen Steffens offers some of the most exquisite and unique designs in ladies fashion today, but they are difficult to find in the United States – unless, of course, you live near one its prestigious locations. There may be 180 retail stores in 13 countries, but there are only two in the United States. The newest location opened last week in Danbury, Conn., the project of entrepreneur businesswoman Josy Piacente, who said the exclusivity of the brand, drew her attention at first.
“It offers this exclusivity to women. Nobody in going to have what I have,” Piacente said.
Founded in 1993 in Sao Paolo, Brazil, Carmen Steffens is a leader in the women’s high fashion shoes, handbags and accessories market, each handcrafted item produced with extreme care and attention. “It’s just top-of-the-line merchandise,” Piacente said. “I like the fact that there are

just a few of each item made, so it’s impossible to find someone who owns exactly what you do when you’re wearing Carmen Steffens.”
Each distinctively-styled item reflects a unique Brazilian “feel” which can be found in no other brand. Handcrafted adornments, hand-stitched embroidery and authentic Austrian crystals adorn each piece, with extreme attention to detail for the fashion savvy, discriminating, and confident woman.
“I like that each Carmen Steffen item has a special touch to it,” Piacente said. “It’s exciting to know that no one else will have the same hand bag or shoes that I’m wearing…I like knowing that what I have is unique.”
Because each item is carried in extremely limited quantities, it’s important to buy something you like when you see it –
because it is not going to return. “I was very focused on choosing something unique…I might stock one or two per style and when they are sold, they are gone,” Piacente said. “That’s the beauty of Carmen Steffen exclusivity.”
That appeal has drawn made instant Carmen Steffens fans from celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Mariah Carey and Stacy Keibler, who are frequently photographed in the exclusive brand.
The newest location opened on the lower level of the exclusive Danbury Fair facility, becoming just the second location in the United States. The original U.S. store is located in Hollywood, Calif.
“We’re the first store in the Northeast,” Piacente said. She’s lived in the United States for 14 years, and opening this store, in this city, is the realization of a long-time dream. “This was always wanted to open a store like this…it’s simply beautiful products.”
The grand opening was an amazing success as well. “We had an exceedingly huge number of people at the opening,” she said, estimating attendance at over 200 people during the course of their first official day open. “That’s a lot of people in a store this size…but it was wonderful.”
In addition to ladies fashion and accessories, a partner brand, Rafael Steffen, produces an exclusive line of men’s formalwear, shoes, belts and accessories. CS Teens is another brand geared exclusively to little girls.
